Theory has a dictionary meaning which is “the analysis of a set of facts in their relation to one another”. However this maning is not enough to explain. Theory is also a valid answer of a problem until it is disproved. Theory might not depend on the facts but it should rely on the realistic ideas. So, as mentioned before, a theory is applicable up to it is disputed.
